When I was 10yo I went to an informatics class with a friend and fell in love with computers. It was love at the first touch. Two years laters I learned my first programing language: Visual Basic . I've also figured out how to assemble and disassemble computers and earned a lot of money for a 12yo. The year was 2005, the beggining of my carreer πŸ˜‚.

Down the line I got a BS in Information Systems, but at some point when I got asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I responded: "Scientist!!!". Poor choice in terms of finances, good one in terms of passion. Down the line I got a MS in Computer Science.

I am originally from Brazil πŸ‡§πŸ‡·, but when I moved to the US πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ in 2018, it was the beggining of the Deep Learning boom. Word2Vec had been published 5 years earlier, and everyone was working on something that stacked on top of it. The transformers paper had been published a year before I moved. I did not know TensorFlow and Hugging Face's transformers library did not exist yet, so I spent a few weeks writing my own from scratch. Pretty fun times. I am currently in Belgim πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺ, still tinkering with computers, and still working in research.

On this website, I document the things I learn and do when I have time.
